WORKSHOP COMPRESSED AIR

Air compressors for mechanical and automotive workshops

Rotary screw air compressors for automotive and mechanical workshops. Size airflow for tools, tyre equipment, pumps, cleaning and simultaneous demand.

Workshop demand can change quickly as technicians move between impact tools, tyre equipment, cleaning and other pneumatic equipment. Size the compressor around what can operate at the same time, not only the number of bays.

Common demand drivers

  • number of technicians and work bays
  • impact tools and air ratchets
  • tyre changing and inflation equipment
  • air-operated pumps and workshop equipment
  • cleaning and blow-down use
  • leaks and future growth

Likely Pneumatix starting points

PM10 can be a starting point for smaller workshops with verified demand within 1,000 L/min at 8 bar. PM20 provides 2,100 L/min at 8 bar for higher simultaneous use. PM30 provides 3,200 L/min at 8 bar for larger requirements and is available as a Base Mount only.

Total Air Station or Base Mount?

Choose a Total Air Station when a compact receiver-mounted package suits the site. Choose a Base Mount when the receiver and air treatment need to be selected separately or existing equipment will be reused.

Confirm tool consumption, duty cycle, pressure, storage, electrical capacity and future expansion before final selection.

Provide the equipment list, operating pattern, required pressure and existing compressed-air infrastructure. Pneumatix can help identify the appropriate starting point or support the discussion with your existing dealer.

Frequently asked questions

How many workshop bays can a PM10 support?

Bay count alone is not enough to answer that. The equipment, simultaneous use, duty cycle, pressure and receiver arrangement need to be considered.

Is a Total Air Station easier to install?

It can simplify the major package layout because the receiver, dryer and filtration are integrated, but the site still needs suitable power, ventilation, pipework, drainage and service access.

Can I use a Base Mount with my existing receiver?

Potentially, but the receiver condition, capacity, pressure rating, registration and system arrangement need to be checked by appropriately qualified parties.

Should I buy the next size up for safety?

Growth allowance should be deliberate. Excessive oversizing can create unnecessary cost and poor operating behaviour. Review the real peak demand first.
